Wenlock Spring Scoops International Award 2017
Wenlock Spring – which bottles premium still and sparkling spring water – took a bronze in the first ever international edition of the Gourmet Water Contest. It is the only British water to do so.
The Shropshire-based family business won the medal for its sparkling water in the competition staged in Paris, France, and organised by AVPA – (Agency for the Valorization of Agricultural Products). Wenlock Spring also scooped a Gourmet Diploma for its still water.
The jury was composed of experts, taste specialists and representatives of the “Académie Culinaire de France”. They tasted 50 competing waters from more than 20 countries, which were judged on their character, taste and elegance.
Wenlock Spring, based at Wolverton, near Church Stretton, is a brand exclusively for hospitality. It’s still and sparkling spring water is available in stylish glass and PET – with a bottle size for every occasion. Wenlock Spring is sourced from a protected historic spring, dating back to 1086; and the water filters naturally through the rock strata – giving it its unique blend of minerals, including calcium and selenium.
Bruce Orme, Director at Wenlock Spring, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have scooped this award – the only British water to collect a medal in this competition.”
